He apprenticed with his father's successor, Eusebe Brodeur of Saint-Hyacinthe, Québec, Canada. After his apprenticeship, he travelled to Europe and studied with John Abbey of Versailles, France, in 1878. Returning to Québec, he established Casavant Frères Ltée. in Saint-Hyacinthe, Québec, Canada with his brother, 1879. He visited Europe again in 1896. Joseph-Claver Casavant Jr. died December 10, 1933 in Saint-Hyacinthe, Québec, Canada. Patent: jointly with Joseph C. Hevey and Arthur Letiecq: Patent #1,760,813; May 27, 1930; stop action.
