Fox (Richmond, Va.: Organ Historical Society, 1991). — Born October 19, 1832 in Waterville, New York; died September 17, 1904; son of Alvinza Andrews, father of Charles B. Andrews; Partner with his father Alvinza Andrews in Sangerfield, New York, 1859; Alvinza retired in 1857, George moved to Oakland, California, 1886; briefly with Thomas Whalley of Oakland, 1888; re-established his own firm in Oakland; died 1904, succeeded by his son Charles who continued firm until 1906. Andrews was born 19 Oct. 1832 in Waterville, New York; died 17 Sep. 1904, Oakland, California; he was the son of Alvinza Andrews, and father of Charles B. Andrews. He was partner with his father Alvinza Andrews in Sangerfield, New York, 1859. Alvinza retired in 1857, George may have continued the partnership with John Gale Marklove, before moving to Oakland, California, 1886. He was briefly with Thomas Whalley of Oakland, CA, in 1888; before re-establishing his own firm in Oakland. He died in 1904, and was succeeded by son Charles who continued the firm until 1906. The firm's closing may have been due to the frequent earthquakes in the area, the great earthquake of 1907 which almost destroyed San Francisco was preceded by several smaller quakes for years prior to the major event.
