[According to David Fox’s Guide, the periodical’s title was Musical and Sewing Machine Courier from November 1880 to December 1882. The title in the August 13, 1881, issue, however, is Musical and Dramatic Courier.—Ed.]  

2019-12-13/2019-12-13 - From Organ Database Builders editor Charles Eberline, December 12, 2019. — James Cottier was one of Hilborne Roosevelt’s foremen when a fire broke out in Roosevelt’s organ factory on August 5, 1881. Firemen brought the flames under control in a few minutes and put them out in a quarter of an hour. Fire damage to the building was reported as being less than $500 and to stock as not more than $1,000, but water damage to various organ parts was $9,000 to $10,000.
