2004-10-30/2019-04-29 - From the OHS PC Database, derived from A Guide to North American Organbuilders,, rev. ed., by David H. Fox (Organ Historical Society, 1997). - Active in Buffalo, New York, second half of 19th century. Sources: Orpha Ochse, The History of the Organ in the United States (Bloomington: Indiana University Press, 1975), 281. Ochse lists Dishmer along with five other names as being "other organ builders in Buffalo" besides Garret House and Derrick & Felgemaker. She gives no other information on Dishmer, nor does she give her sources in this instance. The dates are derived from the chapter title "Organs in an Industrial Society: 1860–1910. 'Ditmar' as an alternative spelling is a suggestion by Fox, not Ochse, and is based on the similarity to "Christian Ditsmer" who was a builder in Buffalo in 1859 according to an article in The Tracker 9:2 (1964, Spring), 10. —Ed.
