2004-10-30/2019-04-29 - From the OHS PC Database, derived from A Guide to North American Organbuilders, rev. ed. by David H. Fox (Organ Historical Society, 1997). - Born 26 February 1888 in Pomeroy, Ohio; brother of Frederick R. Durst; father of Chester, Charles, Howard, Ralph N. and Roland Durst. Durst began with Barckhoff Organ Co. of Pomeroy, Ohio; followed with Hinners Organ Co. of Pekin, Illinois; and finally was with A. Gottfried Co. of Erie, Pennsylvania, where he was superintendent. He established the organ supply Durst & Co. of Erie, Pennsylvania in 1924; which became Durst, Boegle & Co. of Erie, Pennsylvania in 1926.
