Votey as the Farrand & Votey Organ Co., 1887-1897, reed organs and beginning 1889, pipe organs; Farrand & Votey separated in 1898; Farrand established the Farrand Organ Co., continuing the reed organ and piano business, 1898 while Votey continued the pipe organ business; Farrand closed his firm c. 1916; in real estate and insurance business; he died August 1930 in Detroit, Michigan.
