Fox (Richmond, Va.: Organ Historical Society, 1991). - Born September 9, 1853 in Detroit, Michigan; with father's wholesale drug firm of Farrand, Williams & Co. of Detroit, Michigan; With Whitney Organ Co., reed organs, of Detroit, Michigan, 1883, secretary-treasurer; acquired firm with Edwin S. Votey as the Farrand & Votey Organ Co., 1887-1897, reed organs and beginning 1889, pipe organs; Farrand & Votey separated in 1898; Farrand established the Farrand Organ Co., continuing the reed organ and piano business, 1898 while Votey continued the pipe organ business; Farrand closed his firm c. 1916; in real estate and insurance business; he died August 1930 in Detroit, Michigan.
