2015-08-18/2019-04-29 - From the OHS Database Builders Listing editor, January 6, 2017. - Dan Garland established Garland Pipe Organs, Inc. of Fort Worth Texas in 1982. The firm builds instruments with both electro-mechanical and electro-pneumatic actions. He does not assign opus numbers, but his web site lists 48 new instruments or major rebuilds with three in progress in 2017. They range in size from four ranks to the 160 ranks of his magnum opus at First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth, Texas completed in 2014. The bulk of the firm's work is in Texas and Louisiana, but they have instruments in Alabama, Oklahoma, and New Mexico as well. Garland describes his tonal style this way: "Garland Pipe Organs combine American eclectic design, with English traditional influence being heard. An instrument can be as small as four ranks or as large as 160 ranks-and larger, if needed. All instruments, smallest to largest, include a significant number of foundation stops. A large color pallet allows the organ to faithfully reproduce literature from all periods of composition." Dan Garland is a member of the Associated Pipe Organ Builders of America and International Society of Organbuilders.
