2018-05-07/2019-02-11 - From the OHS Online Organ Database, Builders Listing editor Stephen Hall, February 12, 2017. - George W. Gittins was with the Estey Co. of Brattleborro, Vermont. In 1917, the Welte firm lost its American branch due to the Alien Property Custodian act. The assets of the Welte firm were acquired by H. E. Mitchell, former Welte president, and sold to George W. Gittins. The firm was renamed the Welte-Mignon Corporation; and continued manufacture and sales of organs and pianos with automatic playing devices. Sources:
