Edited for the revised OHS Online Database website, 2017. - Born in Germany; brother of Paul Sowada; with Welte & Sons Co. of Poughkeepsie, New York, 1910s, superintendent, 1926;* died September 22, 1947 in New Rochelle, New York. *Welte & Sons Co. was the American branch of the German corporation Welte & Sohns, it was confiscated under the Alien Property Act, in 1917. The firm was acquired by Estey Piano, and changed names and owners several times before being sold to W.W. Kimball in 1933. —Ed.
