2004-10-30/2019-02-11 - From the OHS PC Database, derived from A Guide to North American Organbuilders by David H. Fox (Organ Historical Society, 1991). - Charles W. Griffiths was with Hook & Hastings of Boston, Massachusetts, as a pipemaker prior to 1889. He was then with Geo S. Hutchings firm of Massachusetts; He operated his own pipemaking firm in Reading, Massachusetts from 1889 until 1898, when it was acquired by Samuel Pierce. Griffiths stayed on with Samuel Pierce as superintendent from 1898 until 1900. He then moved to New Haven, Connecticut, in 1902; There is an overlap of dates between leaving Pierce and starting with Austin Organ Co. of Hartford, Connecticut, circa 1899-1900.
