2018-05-07/2019-04-29 - From the Organ Database Builders editor Stephen Hall, September 23, 2015. - Walter A. Guzowski was born December 4, 1939, in Buffalo, New York; he died September 17, 2008, in Florida. He began his career in the pipe organ world with the Schlicker Organ Company of Buffalo, New York, while still in high school. Except for two years spent in the U.S. Army, he worked there until 1979, becoming the head voicer and tonal finisher. He was involved with many of the notable organs Schlicker built including the large instrument at First Congregational Church, Los Angeles. In 1979 he moved to Ft. Lauderdale and began his organ service business. This became Guzowski & Steppe, Organbuilders, Inc. when incorporated in 1983 with associates John A. Steppe and Christopher B. Kane.
