2018-05-07/2019-09-20 - Note from Organ Database Builders editor Stephen Hall, December 12, 2017. - While working in connection with the Skinner Company, Robert Hope-Jones had constructed and placed an organ in Park Church, in Elmira. While there, he met Jervis Langdon, treasurer of the Elmira Chamber of Commerce, who secured the new business for his city by organizing a corporation to build exclusively Hope-Jones organs. Langdon, an Elmira native, was one of the investors in the new company. Landon persuaded his uncle, Samuel Clemens, to join as an investor. Source: David H.
