Fox (Richmond, Va.: Organ Historical Society, 1991). — In San Francisco, California, 1910, working as a movie projectionist; with Eilers Music Co., 1911, organ serviceman; with Wurlitzer firm of North Tonawanda, New York, in San Francisco, California, 1914; with Sherman-Clay firm, 1916; with Robert-Morton firm (asst. plant supt.); established Maas Organ Co. of Los Angeles, California, 1922. Maas discontinued pipe organ production in favor of a type of chime he invented; and established Maas-Rowe Electromusic Corp., 1947; he retired, 1950s; and was succeeded by Paul Rowe Sr. and Jr. of Maas-Rowe Carillons.
