2004-10-30/2019-10-08 - From Builders Editor, Stephen Hall, October 8, 2019. — Mathias P. Moller (Möller) Sr. was born September 29, 1855 in Bornholm, Denmark. Moller emigrated to the United States while in his teens, he was in Warren, Pennsylvania by 1872. He was with Greenland Brothers furniture firm in Erie, Pennsylvania prior to joining Derrick & Felgemaker of Erie, Pennsylvania, circa 1872. He moved to Warren, Pennsylvania in 1875 and established his own organ building firm there in 1875; two years later, he relocated to Greencastle, Pennsylvania. He moved to Hagerstown, Maryland in 1881, the M.P. Moller organ company would remain there until its closing in 1992. In addition to the organ business, he established Crawford Automobile Co. in 1925; his other business interests included Potomac-Edison Electric Co., Hagerstown & Frederick Railroad Co., Hagerstown Trust Co., and the Hotel Princess Dagmar. Moller died April 13, 1937 in Hagerstown, Maryland. His son, Mathias P. Möller Jr. continued the company after the senor Moller's death.
