2004-10-30/2019-04-29 - From Organ Database Builders editor Stephen Hall, April 17, 2018. - James M. Beck (July 9, 1861 - April 12, 1936) was an American lawyer and politician. He was assistant to the Attorney General of the United States, 1900-1903. He was with Shearman & Sterling of New York City, 1903 to 1917. He became a senior partner in Beck, Crawford & Harris, of New York, 1917. He was appointed Solicitor General of the United States in 1921 and served until his resignation in 1925. He was elected as a member of the House of Representatives of the United States, serving from November, 1927 until his resignation on September 30, 1934.1 He was on the Board of Directors of the firm, Welte and Sons in 1919.2 Sources: United States Congress.
