2018-05-07/2019-10-20 - From Organ Database Builders editor Stephen Hall, October 19, 2019. — This entry was originally for "Alex Berhardt" for which no information could be found. Since there was a listing in Fox's A Guide to North American Organbuilders for "Edward Bernhardt" who was not in the database, the entry was changed to match that information.
2019-10-21/2019-10-21 - From Organ Database Builders editor Stephen Hall, October 20, 2019. — Excerpt from Michael Friesen's article in The Tracker 37:3: Bernhardt appeared as an "organ builder" at 443 Preston Street in an 1884-85 Courier-Journal Business Directory of Louisville, although he was not in the regular city directory for the same year. The 1885 city directory gave the same information under the residential headings, but he was listed under "musical instruments" in the business section. That same year a Herman Bernard, possibly a relative, was shown at 156 E. Jefferson Street as a musical instrument manufacturer, with an identical entry for 1886. However, Edward was no longer in directories after 1885 , and no other details have been discovered.
