2004-10-30/2019-11-20 - From the OHS PC Database, derived from A Guide to North American Organbuilders by David H. Fox (Richmond, Va.: Organ Historical Society, 1991). — William Edward Pilcher [Sr.] was born January 27, 1859 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was the son of Henry Pilcher [II], brother of Henry W., John V., Paul B. and Robert E. Pilcher, and father of William Edward Pilcher Jr. He was with his father's firm Pilcher Brothers in Chicago, Illinois; its successor firm H. Pilcher's & Sons of Louisville, Kentucky, 1874 and that firm's successor, Henry Pilcher's Sons. He died March 14, 1946 in Louisville, Kentucky. Patent #1,067,545; July 15, 1913; valve. NOTE: It is difficult to keep the various Henrys and Williams in the Pilcher family straight. William had an uncle and a cousin by the same name, both of whom were also organ builders. There is a simplified family tree at the entry for the Pilcher Family to help in following the names of the Pilcher clan.
