2018-05-07/2019-11-23 - Note from Organ Database Builders editor Stephen Hall, February 25, 2018. — Eben Smith had moved to California from Colorado where he had made his fortune in silver mining. Looking for a new opportunity in California, he invested in the Los Angeles Art Organ Company (formerly the Murray Harris Organ Company). When the company reached the point it was struggling to survive and Harris had been forced out by the stockholders, Smith as the largest stockholder took control of the company. He relocated the business to Hoboken, New Jersey, and reincorporated as the Electrolian Organ Company of New Jersey. Smith died less than a year later and without his financial backing, Electrolian went bankrupt. Philip Wirsching of Ohio purchased the remaining assets, and completed at least one contract.
