Fox (Richmond, Va.: Organ Historical Society, 1991). — Robert Martin Sperling was born in New Ulm, Minnesota; he was the brother of John Sperling, and husband of Meridith Sperling. He was with the Wicks firm of Highland, Illinois, 1960-1964; then with Howard Nolte of New Ulm and Belle Plaine, Minnesota, 1964-1968. He operated his own business, then joined the Hendrickson firm of St. Peter, Minnesota, in the 1970s. Sperling was with the Dobson firm of Lake City, Iowa, as a voicer from 1979 until his death in 1999. His wife, Meridith, continued working there until 2008. Sources: Correspondence of David H. Fox.
