Fox (Richmond, Va.: Organ Historical Society, 1991). — Born in Oslo, Norway; son of Herman Otto Stengel; immigrated to the United States with his father and uncle, at age 6 [c. 1888]; with Hope-Jones Organ Co. of Elmira, New York, c. 1908, action and chest work; with Ernest M. Skinner of Dorchester, Massachusetts, by 1915; with successor Aeolian-Skinner; retired 1958; died September 1959 in Boston, Massachusetts, age 77. Source: The Diapason November 1959, 22.
