Fox (Organ Historical Society, 1997). - Born January 27, 1827 in New York City, New York; son of William Stuart, Sr., brother of George, Henry, Louis, and William Stuart, Jr., half-brother of Richard M. Ferris, father of Ferris L. and Frederick L. Stuart; with firm of Richard M. Ferris in New York City, New York, became partner with Ferris in Ferris & Stuart 1857; succeeded Ferris with Levi U. Stuart, Organs, 1860; died April 28, 1904 in Bronx, New York. Staff: George W. Loree.* *His brothers, William, George, and Louis, also worked with the firm until 1871 when they formed a separate firm, William J. Stuart & Bros., in Albany, New York. —Ed.
