2015-11-15/2019-04-29 - From the OHS Database Builders Listing editor, updated October 25, 2016. - George K. Taylor and John H. Boody founded Taylor & Boody Organbuilders in 1977. Taylor, a graduate of Washington and Lee University, was awarded a Ford Foundation grant to study organ building with Rudolph von Beckerath in Hamburg Germany. Boody, a University of Maine graduate, apprenticed with Fritz Noack in Georgetown, Massachusetts. Taylor and Boody first worked together as partners along with John Brombaugh in Middletown, Ohio. Between 1970 and 1977 John Brombaugh and company built some twenty organs. John Brombaugh relocated to Eugene, Oregon in 1977; George Taylor and John Boody remained in Ohio and formed Taylor & Boody Organbuilders of Middletown, Ohio. In 1979, Taylor and Boody moved the company to its present location, a renovated school building three miles west of Staunton, Virginia. The company builds and restores mechanical key-action instruments. Their new instrument listing reached opus 70 in 2015. Contracts have been signed for opus numbers 71, 72, and 73. The company completed its magnum opus, Opus 65, a four-manual instrument of 76 stops in 2013 for Grace Church (Episcopal), New York City, New York. Staff (2016): George K. Taylor; John H.
