William P. Tenney

Notes

2004-10-30/2024-11-27 - Note from the OHS PC Database, derived from *A Guide to North American Organbuilders*, by David H. Fox (Richmond, Va., Organ Historical Society, 1991). With Geo. Kilgen & Son, Inc. firm of St. Louis, Missouri, 1928. Source: Elizabeth Towne Schmitt.

2024-11-26/2024-11-27 - The entry "Tenney, William P." in David Fox's Guide to North American Organbuilders, identical in both the 1991 and 1997 editions, is an error for William P. Tanney. The entry "Tanney, William P." was added in the 1997 edition (page 281): Tanney, William P. With Kilgen & Son firm of St. Louis, MO, in New York City, NY, c. 1928. [Co. Literature; Schmitt] A full-page advertisement for Geo. Kilgen & Son, Inc., in The Diapason, November 1928, 11, includes a photo spread of "men, working out of the Kilgen Office at Steinway Hall, NewYork City"; one photo is captioned "Wm. P. Tanney." The same ad very likely appeared as part of the "Co. Literature" Fox cited. -Charles Eberline
