Fox (Richmond, Va.: Organ Historical Society, 1991). — Born December 28, 1822 in Tegelen, Netherlands; son of Petrus F. Van Dinter, Dutch organbuilder; father of Alphonse H., Charles H., Frank J., John {Peter J.}, and Louis H. Van Dinter, Sr.; immigrated to the United States c. 1870; operated his own firm in Detroit, Michigan, c. five years; carpenter, piano tuner, saloon keeper, thereafter; died May 8, 1902 in Detroit, Michigan.
