Fox (Organ Historical Society, 1991). - Votey Organ Co. succeeded the pipe organ business of Farrand & Votey firm of Detroit, Michigan; Farrand retained the reed organ portion in an amicable split. Edwin S. Votey operated the new company from c. 1897 to c. 1898.
