2004-10-30/2019-10-14 - From the OHS PC Database, derived from A Guide to North American Organbuilders by David H. Fox (Organ Historical Society, 1991). - Votey Organ Co. succeeded the pipe organ business of Farrand & Votey firm of Detroit, Michigan; Farrand retained the reed organ portion in an amicable split. Edwin S. Votey operated the new company from c. 1897 to c. 1898. Votey merged with Aeolian to form Aeolian-Votey in 1899; the name is sometimes used informally in reference to the business activities of Edwin S. Votey. Staff: William B. Fleming; W. D.
