2019-10-17/2019-10-17 - From Organ Database Builders editor Stephen Hall, October 16, 2019. — There is some confusion in Fox's Guide about the relationships of the Eugene Ward firm with James E. Miller and Philip T. Hines Jr.: The entry for Eugene Ward lists Miller and Hines as staff, but that term is used freely by Fox to indicate an association of some sort, it does not necessarily mean they were employees. The entry for James E. Miller states that he formed his own firm in Louisville in 1972, prior to that he had been in Illinois. The entry for Phillip T. Hines Jr. states "with Eugene Ward Organ Service; with Miller Organ Co. of Louisville, Kentucky, until 1987; 16 years in trade in 1988" Based on this information, Ward had a service firm in Louisville, Hines was an employee at some point in the 1970s, and Miller had some association with the firm during the same period.
