Warren was born in Rhode Island circa 1810-15. He and his brother, Samuel R. Warren, apprenticed with Thomas Appleton of Boston, Massachusetts, in 1836. After completing their apprenticeship, Samuel moved to Canada and established his own firm, Thomas Warren remained in the Boston area and became a partner with Thomas Appleton in Appleton & Warren of Reading, Massachusetts, 1847-1850. After leaving the partnership, Thomas Warren joined his brother, Samuel R., in Montréal, Quebec, Canada, building both reed and pipe organs during the 1850s. When the Civil War began, Thomas returned to the United States and enlisted in the Union Army. He died in 1862 in the battle of Vicksburg, Missisippi.
