Fox (Richmond, Va.: Organ Historical Society, 1991). — Frederick Irving White was born c. 1866 in Somerville, Massachusetts. He was with Geo. S. Hutchings of Massachusetts; with James Cole firm of Massachusetts; with George H. Ryder firm of Boston, Massachusetts; and with Charles Griffiths of Reading, Massachusetts, 1894, as a reed voicer. He was briefly partner with John Brennan and Rodney Gleason in Brennan, Gleason & White of Boston, Massachusetts, c. 1896. After the partnership closed, he was with Samuel Pierce firm of Reading, Massachusetts, 1898. White acquired the pipe-making firm of H. L. Campbell of Reading, Massachusetts, in 1910; he operated as a reed pipe firm in Reading, Massachusetts, from 1910; the business was last listed in 1932. [succeeded by Carl Bassett;*] Frederick White died May 7 1948 in Reading, Massachusetts. *Disputed, according to Carl G. Bassett (son of Carl Bassett), his father purchased the building that White had formerly occupied, but not the business itself which by that point would have been closed for more than 20 years. -Ed.
