2015-09-19/2019-02-11 - From the Builders Listing editor, updated September 28, 2016. - Mark H. Plaisted was born in South Berwick, York, Maine in 1836. Orphaned at age 11, he worked in several jobs, including organ building. He moved to Boston circa 18581 [and started with the E. & G.G. Hook firm. Plaisted left Hook along with George Hutchings and G.V. Nordstrom to join with John Wilcox in forming J.H. Wilcox and Company, predecessor to Hutchings, Plaisted & Co. Plaisted left the firm in either 1887 or 1888 and]2 moved to Riverside County, California.
