2021-10-22/2021-10-22 - Gerhard is the son of Gregor Franz Hradetzky II (who began his apprenticeship in his father's firm in 1926). He worked as an apprentice, eventually focusing on voicing, at Rudolf von Beckerath's firm. On July 27, 1972 he passed the diploma examination at the technical school for musical instrument production in Ludwigsburg near Stuttgart. A year later, on August 31, 1973, he passed his master craftsman examination in Stuttgart. On January 17, 1974, he passed the master craftsman examination in Vienna and thus also received the Austrian master craftsman certificate and the business license. Differences between father and son came to a head in 1973. Gerhard founded his own company on the other side of the Danube, only 10 km from the old company, in 1975. About 2014 he moved to Venice, Italy, from where he continued to service his organs in Italy and elsewhere. -Paul R. Marchesano
