2004-10-30/2018-07-29 - From the OHS PC Database, (James H. Cook and Elizabeth Towne Schmitt, co-editors). — Born about 1849 in Baltimore, Maryland, died March 29, 1908. Date of Newspaper March 30, 1908. "Mr. Phillip L. Magraw, who built the unfinished organ in the Hall of Alexandroxky for the late Thomas Winans, died yesterday at the Maryland General Hospital. He had been ill for several days. Mr. Magraw was born in this city 59 years ago. For may years he was employed as an expert machinist for Mr. Winans. When Mr. Winans drew the plans for the organ, Mr. Magraw was commissioned to do the work, but with the death of Mr. Winans the organ was left umcompleted. in late years he had been employed by the Bartlett-Hayward Company. He is survived by a wife, Mrs. Mary Magraw and four sons. Mssrs. John, Phillip, Edward and James Magraw. He was a member of the Machinist's Union.
