Fox (Organ Historical Society, 1991). — Born 1832 in Sandown, New Hampshire; father of William D. Wood; with S. D. & H. W. Smith, reed organs, of Boston, Massachusetts; in Toronto, Ontario, Canada; with A. A. Simmons, reed organs, of Detroit, Michigan, 1865, tuner; firm reorganized as Simmons & Whitney, then Clough & Warren Co.; established Granville Wood (& Son) of Detroit, 1870; briefly partner with Frederick J. Simmons in Wood & Simmons of Detroit, MI, 1880; relocated firm to Northville, MI, 1884; firm acquired by Farrand & Votey, 1889. with Farrand & Votey of Detroit, Michigan, superintendent; retired in 1900; died 27 Jul. 1929, age 98.
