2010-04-15/2019-04-29 - Note from the Organ Database Builders editors Charles Eberline and Stephen Hall, July 25, 2017. - Dr. Mark Brombaugh received his education at Oberlin College, University of Louisville, and Yale University. Completing his formal education, he embarked on a dual teaching/concert career. He was a faculty member, teaching organ, harpsichord and church music at Westminster Choir College, the University of Oregon, and the University of Illinois. He was church musician, at United Church on the Green, New Haven, Connecticut, for 16 years. Brombaugh is an active concert artist who has performed throughout the United States, in numerous colleges and churches; and appearing for the American Guild of Organists, the Organ Historical Society, and the Presbyterian Association of Musicians. He is a pipe organ consultant, he has guided many churches through the process of selection of new instruments and restoration of historic instruments. In addition to serving as curator of instruments, he has altered two organs: making tonal changes to Aeolian-Skinner Organ Co. - Opus 920 at Westminster Choir College (OHS Database ID 24761) and rebuilding Henry Pilcher's Sons - Opus 454 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Louisville, Kentucky (OHS Database ID 48750). Dr. Mark Brombaugh is Co-Director of Music Ministries at Christ Church (Episcopal) in Tacoma, Washington. He serves as organist, playing an instrument built by his brother, John Brombaugh of John Brombaugh & Associates. He is also administrator for two music series, Music at Christ Church and Third Fridays at Noon. Dr. Brombaugh has served as Dean of the Tacoma chapter of the American Guild of Organists. He is past national secretary of the Organ Historical Society.
