2004-10-30/2019-02-11 - From the OHS PC Database, derived from A Guide to North American Organbuilders, by David H. Fox (Richmond, VA.: Organ Historical Society, 1991). - With Haskell firm [Haskell Pipe Organ Manufacturing Co.] of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 1901, outside voicing;1 representative of the Estey firm of Brattleboro, Vermont, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 1927, with firm 12 years in 1930.2 Editor's notes: The meaning of "outside voicing" is unclear: Bowers may have been a tonal finisher who traveled outside the factory to work on installations, or he may have been a contractor, not a regular employee of the company. If Bowers had been "with†Estey for 12 years in 1930, he must have begun his connection with the firm about 1918, but his location and position before 1927 are unclear from the information given in Fox-s Guide.
