Bruce operated a pipemaking firm in Methuen, Massachusetts from 1870 to the 1890-s.â€1, in Owen-s discussion of a letter from J. E. Treat (ID 6198, as James Treat & Co.) to Edward F. Searles (ID 5594): "Treat alludes to Bruce & Co., a Methuen pipemaking firm, which may have been another Searles enterprise.
