Notes

2009-05-13 - Identified through on-line information from Jack Umholtz. -- The information above was gleaned by reading the minutes of the church council and talking with older members who attended from 1934 to 1948 when this Wurlitzer was in use. The Wurlitzer was "churchified" by an organ builder in the Hershey, Pennsylvania area, who passed away in the midst of the work, but before installation began. At the insistance of the minister and organ committee, the widow contracted the work out to another builder to finish the job. The swellbox location would have meant an organ of 4 to 6 ranks. A horseshoe console is remembered. This organ was replaced by a divided 2m/9r Wicks, installed by William Rowland of Reading, PA, the Eastern Wicks representative. His signature was on the Swell chamber wall. G. Edwin Dunlap was doing the tuning in the late '60's early '70's when I started playing the instrument in 1971. -Database Manager
