2004-10-30 - In the center of the outer sanctuary sits the Steiner-Reck, 66-rank pipe organ, housed in a free-standing maple case. Designed by Gottfried Reck, the organ, with its total of 3,426 pipes, fully integrates the 1961 Holtkamp instrument built for the former sanctuary. This moderate-sized organ contains an eight-foot, polished brass, horizontal trompete and two 32-foot pedal stops. The three-manual console features keys laminated with African wenge (a commercially harvested, fine-grained, tropical hardwood from Zaire) and touch plate stop. -Database Manager
