2024-10-03 - This is the Liberty Theatre in the East Liberty section of Pittsburgh at the corner of Penn Avenue and Shady Avenue, and not to be confused with a theatre of the same name which was located on Liberty Avenue downtown. The Liberty Theatre was opened on December 27, 1915. It was listed in the 1914-1915 edition of American Motion Picture Directory at 6113-6115 Penn Avenue. By 1922 it was operated by the Rowland and Clark Theaters chain. It was equipped with an Austin organ, which was later replaced by a Kimball 3 manual 13 ranks organ. By April 1962 it was screening Italian movies and the Liberty Theatre was closed on September 6, 1965 and was demolished in November 1968.
