2011-08-22 - Updated through online information from Ryan J Boyle. -- Much to my personal dismay as a Syracuse Freemason, this Masonic temple was sold by the Freemasons circa 1981 to a not-for profit group. This group subsequently modified the interior of the building to suit its needs and scrapped both pipe organs in the process. Interestingly enough, this downtown block starts with St Paul's Episcopal Cathedral (4/74 Quimby/Moller), continues with the Masonic Temple, next, a long standing YMCA, followed by the former Mizpah Tower-First Baptist church, now defunct (1915+ 4/94 Casavant, now at the Performing Arts Center in Jacksonville FL), ending with Immaculate Conception Cathedral (1898/1980 3/60 Roosevelt/Schantz) A rather interesting block of mildly conflicting Christian & Agnostic institutions, and schools of thought in organ building.

Another interesting foot note, especially to fellow masons reading this, is that this building has been recently been converted to upscale/expensive apartments. In looking at the building's website, part of a former lodge room is now someone's living room with "The East" fully intact and visible. -Database Manager
