2012-01-22 - Updated through online information from John Crout. -- I last played it in 1975 at aged 17. The church, I'm told, has grown quite a bit so I believe the instrument is played often. Despite training on piano and clarinet, never had any on pipe organ. The sanctuary was burgled a couple of times, after which I had the opportunity to see the pipes with the Minister. I could likely say more if there is a way to remediate my lack of formal knowledge. (Being an engineer helps me understand similar detail). Despite not having one, I did ask lots of questions and still have (most of) my memory. The instrument was/is inspiring not simply awesome. I'd appreciate hearing anything you can tell me that would enlighten me. Some anecdotes: The 32' diapason could rattle teeth. Older members used to complain that the organists would play too loud. To be sure, we'd have played it louder if it was possible. -Database Manager
