2005-07-03 - Online update from James R. Stettner -- The building was damaged in the Ash Wednesday Puget Sound earthquake in 2003 (?). First Christian merged with Pilgrim Congregational (which see) to form Pilgrim Christian Church. The organ was listed for sale on the merged church website. It was purchased by someone back East who only wanted it for one set of pipes...and dispersed the rest of the organ. The console was left behind and was to have been acquired by David Lines of Edmonds, WA. Its actual status is unknown. The building was razed in May/June 2005. -Database Manager

ACTION: Austin Universal ™ VOICES: 18 STOPS: 26 RANKS: 18 PIPES: 1,280 Electro-pneumatic NOTES The organ was located at the front of the church in a ceiling chamber, and spoke down towards the floor through a tone chute. The console was located at the front on the left side with the organist facing across – the congregation to the right. The organ was originally installed for Austin by C.J. Whittaker & Son of Seattle. While most of the Great and Choir were duplexed, the 6th octave (notes 62-73) of the duplexed stops had two sets of trebles – one for the Choir and one for the Great. Both the Swell and Choir Tremolo are of the fan-type over the pipework. The Pedal 8' Flute was an extension of the 16' wood Open Diapason, and not the 16' Bourdon. The church building was damaged in the 2001 Nisqually earthquake. In 2003, First Christian merged with Pilgrim Congregational Church at the Pilgrim location a short distance further north on Broadway. The merged congregation was renamed All Pilgrims Christian Church. The organ was sold to a private party on the East Coast who reportedly only wanted it for one rank. The rest was parted-out. The console remained in the Seattle area and was owned by David Lines of Edmonds. Sources: Austin opus list; JRS; extant organ [Received from James R. Stettner 2014-06-24.]
