2021-10-11 - From Rapid City Organists via Facebook: The organ at First Congregational United Church of Christ, Rapid City, South Dakota was originally a two-manual Austin organ, built in 1959. Frederick Swann played the dedication recital of the Austin organ on January 14, 1962. The organ was rebuilt and enlarged by Matters Bros., Inc. in 2006-2008. A Choir Division of 12 ranks was added during the organ expansion project. The new console was designed by Matters-Schlicker and custom built for the church. It is a narrow Conductor’s Console, with the pedal board from the original Austin retained. The organ is a three-manual instrument with 35 ranks of pipes, 9 memory levels, and electro-pneumatic action. -Jeff Scofield
