2013-10-28 - Updated through online information from Richard C Greene. -- The Strand Theater opening around 1920 and was owned by A.H. Blank Theaters (Paramount Publix), when the theater opened it seated 593. It was operated by Fox Midwest Theatres from 1940 through 1955, and from then until 1964 NTT Amusement. It reverted back to the Fox Inter-Mountain chain until the late-1960-s. It was finally operated by an independent operator into the 1970-s. The building was destroyed by an electrical fire on December 11, 1974; it has closed up early that night because nobody showed up for the last feature - a Jeremiah Johnson movie; the organ was installed as a 2-manual in 1920 and enlarged to a 4-manual in 1923; it removed at some point and sold to a church 'south of Chicago.' -Database Manager
