2009-05-07 - Updated through online information from George Nelson. -- Church earlier had unidentified organ, perhaps Hook & Hastings, moved by SC Symonds 1883. This was followed by an undated (c.1890) Reuben Midmer, and that by an undated WW Kimball. Then the Austin in 1922 -Database Manager

2016-04-14 - Updated through online information from Jim Lewis. <br>First Presbyterian Church, Los Angeles, had four instruments: 1. A second-hand E. & G.G. Hook organ installed in 1882 2. A 2m Midmer organ installed in 1898 3. A re-build of the 1898 organ to an enlarged 3m, by Midmer in 1909 4. The 4m Austin installed Opus 976 using the 1909 facade.<br><br>There was never a Kimball in any of First Presbyterian's buildings. The photograph of the instrument is a still from the film "The Man Who Played God" with George Arliss and Bette Davis. The console attached to the casework was a 'dummy' made by the film company. The Austin console was in front of the pulpit and recessed into the main floor of the auditorium. -Database Manager
