2017-07-30 - Updated by Steven Bartley, naming this as the source of information: Baltimore Sun 5/6/1893 pg10 & 8/25/1893 pg8. <br> <br>Article Sun paper 5/6/1893<br>Masonic Temple Organ<br>Arrangements have been complete for the erection of a fine organ in the Grand Lodge Room of the Masonic Temple. It will be built by Hook & Hastings of Boston, at a cost of $3,000. The organ will be erected in the summer and be ready for use in September next. It will be exceptionally fine in quality and equipped with the best modern improvements. The instrument is to have two manuals, full pedal scale, a varied range of stops and will be worked by a motor. It will be used for special ceremonies in the temple.<br>Another, similar article (Aug 25, 1893) says the new organ was being installed. <br>A large fire, 1908, Seems to have destroyed the organs, and new instruments were purchased after the rebuild in 1908-09<br>The main Masonic Temple, Baltimore had a number of organs, by the Hook firm, Estey, and Moller. In the 1990s the building was sold to Embassy Suites Hotel. At least two organs were moved the Masonic Home (Bonnie Blink) in Hunt Valley MD. Where possible both were set up for use. -Database Manager
