NOTES
The original home of this organ is not known. It was, for many years, in the Mt. Olive
Baptist Church in Saratoga Springs, NY. Where it was discovered during the 1967 OHS
Convention by E.A. Boadway.
It was subsequently installed in 1964 at the Fort Miller Reformed Church in Fort Edward,
NY. by church Deacon James Petit who had to alter the casework by lowering the center
section in order to make the organ fit a restricted space.
In 1976, the organ was acquired through the Organ Clearing House and refurbished/
installed by Randall J. McCarty assisted by parishioners. The organ was purchased and
installed for under $3,500.00! Mr. McCarty played the opening recital on Sunday, October
24, 1976.
The bottom 7 pipes of the 8' Open Diapason are stopped wood and inside the swellbox. The
next 13 pipes (notes 8-20) are en façade. The remainder of the set is of common metal as
are the 4' Octave and 2' Fifteenth. The 8' Dulciana has 12 capped zinc quintadena basses.
The rest of the rank is spotted metal. The 4' Violin Bass is spotted metal, but then the
4' Flute is stopped wood with 12 open metal trebles. The 8' Unison Bass/Melodia has 17
stopped wood basses, and the remainder is of open wood.
The 8' Open Diapason label is non-original. The organ likely had a keydesk cover
originally, but this has been removed/lost at some point in the past and the keydesk has
a fixed music rack.
