2024-10-07 - From Telegraph-Journal (Saint John, NB, February 27, 1879): "The organ is the largest in the city, with the exception of that in the Cathedral, and cost $3,500. It was made by Hook & Hastings, of Boston, whose organs are second to none in the United States, and in outward appearance is pronounced by all who have seen it to be most chaste and beautiful. It entirely fills the recess made for it, being 16 feet long, 8 feet deep, and 23 feet high. The front is of black walnut, the front pipes being in three groups, representing three arches, the centre one of which is somewhat lower than the others. The pipes are decorated in colors and gold, to harmonize with the colors of the church interior. It has two manuals of 58 notes each, and a pedal key board of 27 notes, and it contains 1.098 pipes ... Those who have tried it pronounce it a most perfect instrument admirably blended, quick, even in tone, smooth and powerful. It gives every satisfaction to the people of St. Andrew's Church and to their talented organist Herr Maximilian Marcus Sterne. This organ is the gift of the ladies of the congregation." -Andrew Henderson

2024-10-07 - The church was formally opened on March 16, 1879, and the organ was likely set up in February of that year. Information received online from Andrew Henderson on 2024-10-07 -Paul R. Marchesano
