Notes

2005-04-07 - Identified through information in Volume VI p. 262 of the Pilcher factory ledger and the list of Pilcher organs typed by William E. Pilcher of Louisville. For more information see the document referenced below. -Database Manager

2005-04-07 - Original price: $3300 -Database Manager

2008-03-13 - Updated through online information from Tom Jones. -- The organ was situated in an apse near the front of the Acron-style sanctuary. Everything was together (except the blower, which was in the basement), and the Swell pedal was mechanical action. The former sanctuary is now the fellowship hall. Please note it's Mebane Presbyterian Church; the First Presbyterian Church in Mebane is a different church. Stoplist

Typed stoplist from Tom Jones Source: Source not recorded Date not recorded

Mebane, North Carolina
Mebane Presbyterian Church
402 S. Fifth St., 1917 Building, Acron-Style Sanctuary

Henry Pilcher's Sons, Opus 1327, 1926
Electropneumatic (Pilcher records say "electric")

The Pilcher records say "First Presbyterian," but the church has always been
"Mebane Presbyterian." Mebane has a First Presbyterian Church, but it's a
smaller, younger church and has never had a pipe organ.

Two-manual tilting-tablet console
Manual: 61 notes; Pedal: 32 notes

GREAT, Manual I

8' Open Diapason (61 pipes, unenclosed)
 8' Gedeckt (Sw.)
 8' Aeoline (Sw.)

The Pilcher records give the Open Diapason 73 pipes, but as I recall it differed from the Swell ranks in not having the extra top octave. The gold-painted facade
pipes were from this rank, and not many were fake, perhaps four or six.

SWELL, Expressive, Manual II

 8' Viola Diapason (73 pipes)
 8' Gedeckt (wood, 73 pipes)
 8' Aeoline (73 pipes)
 4' Flute Harmonic (73 pipes)
    Tremolo

The Swell box was accessed by climbing a ladder to get on top of the box, then
opening a hatch, and climbing a ladder to get down inside.

PEDAL

16' Sub Bass (wood, 44 pipes)
16' Bourdon (wood, 12 pipes--unencl. ext. of Sw. Gedeckt)
 8' Bass Flute

The Pilcher records call the 8' Sub Bass extension "Flute," but the stop was
engraved "Bass Flute."

COUPLERS

Swell to Pedal 8'
