2005-04-07 - Identified through information in Volume VII p. 140 of the Pilcher factory ledger and the list of Pilcher organs typed by William E. Pilcher of Louisville. For more information see the document referenced below. -Database Manager

2006-11-15 - Updated through online information from James R. Stettner. -- The organ was originally built as opus 1456 in 1891 for First Baptist Church in Griffin, Georgia. It was relocated to Sewanee in 1926 (Chattanooga AGO website) or 1928 (OHS database) and installed and rebuilt with opus number 1456-1/2. When the Casavant was installed in All Saints' Chapel in 1961, the Pilcher was moved to Guerry Hall. It gradually fell into disrepair. In 1993, the Milnar Organ Co. included five ranks from the Pilcher in a new organ built for St. Luke's Chapel (which see). -Database Manager
