2013-02-16 - Updated through online information from David Dowty. -- I was a student and an organ major at Austin College 1964-1968 and learned of this organ's history then (although it had already been removed before I came to Austin College); some history about the building, Sherman Hall, and its renovation is on the Austin College web site. The organ was removed when the auditorium and building were renovated in 1961. The college had constructed a new chapel in 1958 (which would house Aeolian-Skinner op. 1407, completed in 1963), so this auditorium was no longer used for religious services. Fate of the organ after 1961 uncertain. -Database Manager
